Game Objective
Once bets have been
placed you receive 5 cards. You may discard some or all of these cards and
receive replacements. The object of the game is to build the best 5-card hand
possible from the available cards. For this explanation the video poker game
used, is a Jacks or Better 9/6 game, and in
order to win, you must receive no less than a pair of Jacks. The payout table is
usually located above the cards. Up to 5 coins can be wagered in each round and the
payouts are based on the number of coins wagered before the cards are dealt.
Poker Rankings
Before playing video poker, you should become thoroughly familiar with the value
of each hand. As in regular card poker, the rank of individual cards is from
highest to lowest: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2. From
highest to lowest, the rank of poker hands are:
Royal Flush
A sequence of five cards
of the same suit from the Ten to the Ace.
Straight Flush
A sequence of five cards
of the same suit.
Four of a Kind
Four cards of the same
value.
Full House
Three cards of the same
value, plus two cards of the same value.
Flush
Five cards of the same
suit in any sequence.
Straight
A sequence of five cards,
any suit.
Three of a Kind
Three cards of the same
value.
Two Pairs
Two groups of two cards
of the same value.
Pair of Jacks or Better
Two cards of the same
value.
