Game Objective
The objective in Roulette is to select one number that will be randomly chosen
out of 37 numbers on a Roulette wheel (1 to 36, plus 0). Bets are placed on the
Roulette table layout that correspond to the different possibilities on the
wheel. Once bets have been placed, the Roulette wheel is spun and a ball
randomly drops into one of the 37 numbered slots on the wheel, designating the
winning number. Winnings are based on the type of bets placed.
Some casinos offer "00" Roulette, which increases the odds
against the player, from 2.77% to 5.54% when playing just the numbers. The more favourable roulette tables have only a single 0.
The Table Layout
-
The table layout has 36 red or black printed numbers (1 to 36), plus 0. By
placing a wager on a number, you are betting on that number being the number
on which the ball will land.
-
At the end of each of the three long columns of numbers is a box inscribed
with "2 to 1". By placing a wager on one of these boxes, you are
betting that the ball will land on any one of the numbers in that particular
column.
-
There are three boxes reading "1st 12", "2nd 12" and
"3rd 12". By placing a wager on one of these boxes you are betting
that the ball will land on any one of the first, second or third dozen
numbers.
-
Six boxes show other types of bets: "1 to 18", "19 to
36", "Odd", "Even", "Red" and
"Black". These are self-explanatory. For example, should you place
a wager on the box "19 to 36", you are betting the ball will land
on any number between 19 and 36. If you place a wager on "Red",
you are betting the ball will land on a red number and if you place a wager
on "Odd", you are betting that an odd number (3, 5, 7, etc.) wins.
