Game Objective
In Baccarat two hands are dealt: one for the "Player" and one for the
"Banker". Each hand initially receives two cards. Your goal is to
wager (before the cards are dealt) on which of the two hands will come closest
to a point total of 9. You can bet on the Banker, the Player, or a Tie (both
hands having the same point value). The dealer makes all playing decisions,
according to rules of play.
The Game
After all bets have been placed, the dealer deals 2 cards each to the Banker and
Player hands. The dealer will call the point total for each hand. All cards, Ace
through to 9, are worth their face value. The 10, Jack, Queen and King are worth
zero (0) points (the suits are irrelevant). To determine the value of a hand,
the points of the cards are added together. If the total is greater than 10, the
left-hand digit is dropped and only the right-hand digit is counted. For
example:
J + 10 = 0 The point value is 0
7 + 5 = 12 The point value is 2
The object of the game is for you to draw a perfect hand - one
worth 9 points. This hand is called a "natural". Point totals of 8 or
9 are naturals but a hand value of 9 points wins over a hand value of 8 points.
After the initial deal, a precise set of rules determines if a third card is
drawn to either the Player or Banker hands, or both hands (see table below).
